The idea for VeeBee was inspired by the Coronavirus pandemic of 2020 and the subsequent need for social distancing. Surrounded by friends and loved ones who were stressed and overwhelmed by teleworking, parenting, and home schooling, VeeBee founder Elizabeth Picciotta offered to video conference with their children to entertain the kids and give the parents some much-needed time to focus on other priorities. It was a hit from the start. The kids loved getting attention from someone new and the parents appreciated having a break.
From there, VeeBee developed quickly. Understanding that many high school and college students had free time and had lost their sources of income due to the pandemic, Liz realized that she could help students fill their time and earn money by working as virtual babysitters. Virtual babysitters would gain income and families would gain a much-needed service--all while social distancing. It was a win-win.
VeeBee LLC officially launched in April 2020. It is a free-to-use web platform connecting families with virtual babysitters.
Elizabeth Picciotta is the Co-Founder of VeeBee. In addition, she is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of children and adolescents. In this role, she has seen the direct impact that high levels of stress can have on kids and their families. Recognizing how difficult juggling work, school, and family can be, especially when all under one roof, her hope is that VeeBee can help alleviate some of the pressure, while supporting the need for social distancing. Liz resides in Bethesda, Maryland with her husband, daughter, and dog. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, working out, and spending time with her family.
